Ionic Lodge 186 and Minnesota Masonic Charities is offering three $2000 scholarships to local seniors. Applications are available in the Career Center, room 1212. The deadline to apply is April 15th. Northland Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation is offering a scholarship to Vietnam veterans and their relatives that are in or planning to enter the medical profession. Applications are available in the Career Center, room 1212. The application deadline is May 10th.

Please check out the bulletin board across from the Guidance Office to learn more about scholarship opportunities. Reminder that the application for the Gilmore, Hunt, Mitchell, and Moon scholarships is now open at www.csascholars.org. If you have questions or want help applying for scholarships please stop by the Career Center, Room 1212.


Do you have a quick question about a class or application that only your school counselor can answer,  but you just don't have time to make an appointment?  The Guidance Office has a solution.  Starting today, they are offering walk-in hours.  This is where you can just come in to see your counselor to get a quick question answered - no appointment needed.  Walk in hours are Monday, Wednesdays, & Fridays from 8 am to 9 am and on Tuesday & Thursdays after school until 3:45 pm.  If you need more time such as a credit check or can't come in during Walk-In hours, simply see Sue to make an appointment.


 Scholarships and Career Information
WIN Opportunity 

Lake Superior College will be at Denfeld on Tuesday February 13th during WIN to talk about career opportunities in Aviation Maintenance Technology. 

Aviation Maintenance Technology Diploma or Aviation Maintenance Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree trains students in the repair and schedule maintenance of aircraft. Both are two year programs and total tuition is approximately $16,000 - $18,000. Starting median wage is $28.00. The program is FAA approved.
Students should sign up in flexisched under OTHER - Wrolstad. This WIN will be held in room 2001.

Seniors one of the most prestigious scholarships Denfeld offers is given in Honor of Denfeld Hall of Fame member Michael Colalillo. Michael served in the United States Army, and is a recipient of the Medal of Honor, the military's highest decoration, for his actions during World War II. This scholarship recognizes a Denfeld graduating senior that plans to pursue a career in public service. This includes military, fire safety, law enforcement, teaching, nursing, EMT, ministry, and other noble causes. If you qualify for this scholarship applications are available in the Career Center or Guidance Office.

Juniors the Minnesota Assocation of Townships is awarding $1000 scholarships to up to six juniors. Part of the application is a written essay on the theme: Powering Our Future - Energy to Build on in Your Township. Applications are online at www.mntownships.org or in the Career Center, Room 1212. Deadline is May 1, 2018.


Alert Magazine awards a $500 regional scholarships to current high school seniors that have a minimum 2.5 GPA. A requirement for this scholarship is to write a personal essay about drug and/or alcohol abuse. There is not a deadline for this scholarship. Students can apply at www.alertmagazine.org/scholarship.php.



Harbor Pointe Credit Union (DTCU) will award four $1500 scholarships. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be HPCU member by the scholarship deadline. Applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline is February 28, 2018.

The following scholarships are available to seniors:

Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial will award a $1500 scholarship to a local graduating senior. Applications are available in the Career Center, room 1212. The deadline to apply is February 23rd.

Members Cooperative Credit Union will be awarding 12 scholarships to area youth. Applications can be found at www.membersccu.org/scholarships or in the Career Center, room 1212. The deadline is March 31st. You don't need to be a member of MCCU to apply.

Robert Hermans Harbortown Rotary Scholarship will award scholarships of $2000 to area students on the basis of character, community involvement, leadership, and academic ability. Last year six scholarships were awarded. Applications are available at www.harbortownrotary.com or in the Career Center, room 1212. The deadline is March 1st

Student-View Scholarship Program is offering thirteen scholarships. This scholarship is a random drawing from students that complete a 15-20 minute application about colleges in the area. You can find the survey at www.student-view.com. The deadline is April 22nd. Student Insights is a market research firm.

ALTRUSA International of Duluth will award two $1,000 scholarships to a local high school senior that has at least a 3.5 GPA and has volunteered in the community. The application deadline is April 23, 2018. Applications are available in the Career Center.

Blue Arrow Boutique is offering a $500 scholarship to a female Minnesota or Wisconsin high school senior that plans in majoring in art, business, design, fashion, management, or marketing at a four year college or university in the Fall of 2018. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2018. Applications are available in the Career Center.

George Lee Memorial Scholarship of Trinity Masonic Lodge #282 will be awarded to a senior student with a 2.5+ GPA during their senior year and have shown improvement over the past two years. Applicant must also demonstrate financial need. The deadline to apply is May 25, 2018. Applications are available in the Career Center.

Seniors if you are planning on attending Hibbing Community College, Mesabi Range College, or Vermilion next fall stop by the Career Center to learn about the St Louis County Mineral Royalties Scholarships.

Juniors and Seniors on Monday, April 16th Americorp will be in the Commons during both lunches. If you are interested in learning more about what programs Americorp offers please stop and talk with them.

Historic Central High School Museum Scholarship will award two $500 scholarships, one East Senior and one Denfeld Senior. Applicants will need to write a 500 word essay answering the question, How has your education in Duluth Public Schools helped prepare you for the future? There is not a GPA requirement. Applications are available in the Career Center, Room 1212. The deadline to apply is April 27th.

The Robert "Apa" Berquist Scholarship will award a one-time payment of $525 to a Denfeld graduating Senior who is interested and/or accomplished in one of the following fields of study: art, architecture, city planning, community service, motorcycle mechanics, or urban development. Applications are available in the Career Center, Room 1212. The deadline to apply is April 27th.

The Trinity Chapter #242 Order of Eastern Star along with Minnesota Masonic Charities will award two $1000 scholarships. Applicants must have a senior year GPA of 2.5+ and demonstrate financial need such as: single parent family, disabled parent, emancipated student, married or single parent student, retired parents. Applications are available in the Career Center, Room 1212. The deadline to apply is April 30th.

Rev. Arthur Foy III Scholarship will award at least one $1000 scholarship. Preference will be given to: racial ethnic students in Duluth/Superior area, active members of a black congregation in the area, will be a first generation college student fall 2018, and demonstrate economic need. Applications are available in the Career Center, Room 1212. The deadline to apply is May 1st.
